Movie Review: The Vow

The Vow

A young couple madly in love are involved in a terrible car accident, that leaves the wife in a coma. Whens he finally wakes up she has no idea the man standing at the edge of her bed is her husband.

That's the premise of The Vow starring Rachel McAdams as Paige and Channing Tatum as Leo. Rachael McAdams plays all the characters she's ever played, Seen The Time Traveler's Wife or The Notebook? Its like she just read the same script, used all the same emotions but has really bad hair. I'm still trying to figure out how her well off mother takes her to a spa day and she leaves with that hair halfway thru the movie. Channing Tatum is his usual self chewing up the scenery like it ain't no thang. The man is fine, is fully believable as the not to bright husband but he still can't act. A full ass shot does not redeem this. He also spends this movie with some bizarre costume choices, he's frequently clad is reject sweater from Mr. Rogers closet. i don' get how his character a 20-something musician who owns his own recording studio would wear grandpa sweaters all the time. We get some other stars in this movie Sam Neill plays Paige's father and Jessica Lange plays her mother. Scott Speedman is her former fiancee and a huge douche. He still can act better than Channing.

This movie is not bad, but its highly questionable. Its funny definitely not a ball your eyes out chick flick eve though several women were heaping messes of tears as i was leaving the screening. At one point i wanted to ask if Channing acting was that painful too. The did a good job of working with the story and keeping it connected but i'm positive i would have liked this better with different main characters.

The Vow is loosely based on a true story of a couple where the wife lost all of her memories of her husband. We don't know the details of that true story only that in the end they are still happily married and now have 2 children. The movie ends with these tidbits and a picture of the couple and their 2 boys. We don't seen that far into Paige and Leo's life. The movie ends roughly a year after after the accident. By the end o really didn't give a rats ass if Paige and Leo got back together. He tried he gave her space he never gave up but i really didn't care about them enough.

I give this movie a Wait for Redbox. its really not good enough for you to pay good money for. But i do want to add a clause. Guys this is a perfectly acceptable date movie only if she suggests it. its not going to bring tears to your eyes (and i know some men did cry at the Notebook this won't do it) but you will probably get a very good date night out of it. If your married go see something else if your hoping to get lucky after its over.Depending on how emotionally invested in this your wife may get it might make for lots of conversation later and less sexing that night. don't risk it unless unless movie night at home later.

The Vow is rated PG-13. probably because of Channing ass shot. its a lovely ass though. you can bounce a quarter off of it.
